A foodie friend visited Dexin Fang and was thoroughly impressed, so she put together a table of ten and invited fellow food lovers for a group dinner. Located on Nong’an Street near MRT Zhongshan Elementary School Station, this reservation-only restaurant has been open for just over a year, yet it has already attracted many diners and enjoys very positive online reviews.
That evening, we were the only party dining. The space accommodates about two ten-seat round tables, and through the clear glass you can watch the kitchen team at work while you eat.
The menu focuses on Cantonese cuisine alongside a wide range of Chinese dishes without being limited to a single regional style. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Personal highlights included the garlic crispy chicken, perfectly savory and crunchy; the Cantonese cured-meat radish cake, rich with toasty rice aroma; and the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, generously filled yet clear and comforting. Overall, this is one of the most carefully executed and distinctive Chinese restaurants I’ve visited in recent memory.
Considering the quality of ingredients and the amount of work involved, the pricing is quite reasonable by Taipei standards. I would happily return for another large group gathering if the opportunity arises.
❗️With the Lunar New Year approaching, some dishes are also available for takeaway—details can be found on the restaurant’s Instagram.
