到阿蘇山就想嚐嚐當地有名的赤牛料理,出發前存了幾間候選餐廳,當天到阿蘇車站取完租車後,決定順路往內牧一帶去
「Meshi no Yamaichi めしのやまいち」(山一餐廳)和「Imakin Shokudo お食事処 いまきん食堂」兩間販售赤牛料理的名店在內牧地區相距不遠,我們都登記候位、領了號碼牌,最後是山一餐廳較快叫到號

有不少講日文的客人,略超過午餐時間還是排了約 40 分鐘才入場,小店內座位不多、桌距近,有一半的席次是需脫鞋、跪坐的榻榻米;用手機掃 QR code 線上點餐,肉和飯的份量都可調整
我們四人點了赤牛排丼、赤牛排咖喱飯各兩份:牛肉約三分熟,與名牌和牛相比,更瘦、風味更淡雅,柔軟不油;店家自製的醃漬物意外新鮮美味、種類繁多,搭配牛丼拌了大蒜醬油的白米飯,真的很療癒!不愧由專賣阿蘇高菜的漬物店「山一食品」所經營
一不小心把旅伴們沒吃完的飯都清空,這裡爽口的漬物配日本米太合我的口味了,當然牛肉本身也是不錯的,推薦想吃在地赤牛料理又不怕排隊的朋友嘗試
When visiting Mount Aso, we wanted to try the area’s famous Akaushi (red beef). After picking up our rental car at Aso Station, we decided to head toward the Uchinomaki area along the way.
Two well-known Akaushi specialty spots — Meshi no Yamaichi and Imakin Shokudo — are located not far from each other. We registered in person for the waiting list and took number tickets at both places, and in the end Yamaichi called our number first.
❗️If you’re driving, it’s best to register first and then look for parking nearby. I’m not sure whether there’s public transportation access.
There were quite a few Japanese-speaking customers. Even though it was already past normal lunch hours, we still waited about 40 minutes before being seated. The restaurant is small, with limited seating and tables set close together. About half of the seats are tatami where you need to remove your shoes and sit on the floor. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code on your phone, and both meat and rice portions can be adjusted.
The four of us ordered two Akaushi steak rice bowls and two Akaushi steak curry rice. The beef was cooked to about medium-rare. Compared with premium wagyu, it was leaner, more delicate in flavor, and tender without being greasy. The house-made pickles in varieties were unexpectedly fresh and delicious, especially comforting to pair with white rice mixed with garlic soy sauce from the beef bowl. No surprise, since the restaurant is run by a pickle specialty shop known for Aso takana greens.
I ended up finishing the leftover rice from my travel companions. The refreshing pickles with Japanese rice suited my taste perfectly. The beef itself was also good. I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants to try local Akaushi dishes and doesn’t mind waiting in line.
