Breakfast at Murata, like dinner, was served at the residents-only restaurant Saihido. When checked in the day before, we confirmed the breakfast time with the staff and chose the latest slot at 8:00 a.m., planning to sleep in as much as possible.
This time we were seated in a different private room from the night before, located at the end of the corridor, with windows facing the garden on two sides. As we ate, we could see the sun light filtering in through the windows, with snowfall resting on grass trees, which is incredibly poetic and picturesque.
Aside from the prosciutto salad, the meal was entirely Japanese in style, beautifully presented in delicate small dishes arranged on a two-tier wooden tray. While it wasn’t as inventive as dinner, both the quality of the ingredients and the flavors were consistently solid. Well-prepared foods paired with clay pot rice were absolutely delicious.
Enjoying a meal that was complete in color, aroma, flavor, and nutrition—at the most unhurried pace—in such a beautiful space felt undoubtedly blissful.
