Heng Chun Seng beef hot pot looked completely different from the Thai food I was familiar with, so out of curiosity, we decided to stop by for lunch.
There are two branches. We chose the one closer to a local market and walked over—if you’re particular about cleanliness in the surrounding area, taking taxi would be a better option. The lunch crowd was intense; we waited about half an hour before being seated.
The menu mainly features beef/ pork offal soup and beef/ pork hot pot. The two of us shared one beef hot pot, with a mix of offal, sliced beef, and beef meatballs—all with satisfying texture. The broth was light and refreshing, almost like a mildly sweet soy-based soup. Even in the scorching heat, it didn’t feel heavy at all. You can also order pork satay skewers from a street cart around—perfect as a appetizer while waiting for the hot pot to arrive.
It’s a truly distinctive dish I haven’t seen elsewhere. Would definitely recommend friends visiting Bangkok to give it a try.
